The latest greatest fridge is not necessarily the best one for your house!
We have a hard-and-fast 30" space for a fridge in our kitchen. It has a wall on one side, counter and cabinets on the other. Has made finding a new one VERY challenging. If we want anything larger, we have to remodel the entire kitchen. It could definitely use a remodel – the flow is terrible and the fridge door and oven can’t be open at the same time. Heck, you can’t even stand in front of the stove and cook while someone opens the fridge. Sad!
Even for a regular depth refrigerator that one seems to jut out more than necessary. When I look at the first picture, I just want to reach in there and give it a shove back.
The Lake Washington house is at least liveable. The interior is not my taste, too dark. But at least it was remodeled in the near past… cherry cabinets were very in about 20 years ago. I guess you pay that high price for being on the lake and having lake (or Sound?) views. I know that lake view houses have high property values in your area.
CB, we’re in the DC area. Prices are crazy, but we’re not in that market. Heck, I’m lucky we even bought a house in the first place! DH grew up in a high rise in the Bronx and didn’t understand why getting a house was a big deal. Give him a 2 BR apartment where he can all someone to handle repairs and all is well.
Oh snap. The Lake WA Boulevard house realtor must have removed the two of my favorite photos - the backyard doggie and the spiral ladder (the only way to get to the downstairs quarters)? We were in the area last weekend and popped in - just because… No thanks, even if I had a wad of cash, I would not touch that house. The lot is just above that busy road. The place feels claustrophobic. It might be livable, but gosh it feels like a bunker. The downstairs “party room” has 7 ft tall ceilings. I kid you not. A developer might take this for the land value… About 1.5 mil. It probably had a height restriction on the title; if not, the owners of the mega mansion under construction just above it will raise stink over any plans to have a taller building there.
I guess the photos do make the place look better than it really is!
I’ll take your word for it that the Washington lake house like looks much better in photos than real life. After you mentioned the claustrophobic feel, I went back and looked again. I can see what you mean.
Is it priced right for the area? I live in a much different area in the east, so can’t imagine spending that kind of money on a home.
I think it is priced unreasonably high, but that is not our price range, so I could be off. Although I looked at what has sold in that area in the last few months, and much, much nicer homes sold for not much more. That area is nice and quiet (except the homes on that busy road), and there are several neat townhome and condo developments we had considered looking at in the past.
The buyers requested to go through the house to measure things. This is reasonable because they need to build out their closets when they move in.
We had a big rainstorm with heavy winds yesterday so I ran over just to make sure everything is OK. All good. But I refrained from cleaning because we are in the middle of hauling out furniture
@coralbrook, it sounds like what you need, now that the house is sold, is more door mats and those runners that stores use! Can’t people wipe their feet??
The buyer has released all their contingencies, including loan contingency last night. We are ready to close. He wants to close in the month of February, but we will probably close a day early on Feb 1st.
I still have a lot of work to get done. Because it is raining today again, the staging companies cannot pull their furniture out. It looks like all the furniture is not out until Tuesday night.
Wednesday - need to do some touch up painting and install the master bath cabinet handles
Thursday - top floor is getting buffed and another coat of finish
Friday - wash all windows and clean the house
Saturday - stucco touchup and repair (there are some hairline cracks that have appeared because of all the banging on the house and I want him to fix some obvious ‘lines’ around a window he patched up. We ran across a mis communication issue with the buyer. The buyer thought that Stucco Touchup meant that we were somehow going to go around the whole bottom of the house and get rid of the dirty areas where mud has splashed onto house. No… that’s not going to happen
Sunday - more painting and cleaning. Clear out the whole house as much as possible
Monday - buyer’s inspector coming back through to check items fixed
There’s been headlines about a group that wants to build a new stadium in San Diego (in lieu of Qualcomm) for MLS. My first thought was, why do they want to sell real estate in a stadium? Then I realized, oh, soccer, not listings! Between these threads and my realtor friend on Facebook, my first reaction is understandable!
