Woohoo. Glad that walk through is taking place. Hope you don’t find the brother and his stuff still there!
Can’t wait to hear about walk thru!
Looking forward to following along on this new flip. Best of luck with the walk through and closing!
Sure it’s rained before, but now it’s raining on cb’s slope!
When H and I had a walk through of a house we bought 1 1/2 years ago there was still stuff everywhere. The “garage” was filled floor to ceiling. The master closet was full of crap. And the yard, I just can’t describe. It was appalling. Our agents were great though. The poor seller’s agent must have stayed up most of the night trying to get things out. He didn’t come close to finishing but the agents together paid workers to pile things in a dumpster a day or two after the closing and get rid of it all. The dumpster was filled 3 times! The seller paid about $600, not enough to cover it, but his agent paid the rest. That man was so happy to finally get rid of that client and house!
I had to take a plane home soon after the closing so I missed most of the work. I can’t really complain. There were some treasures in that trash and all’s well that ends well. Although, when grabbing an armful of nasty old coats from a moldy old armoire something fell to the ground and surprised me. A BB gun. It didn’t go off but that room had a pane of glass with one tiny and perfectly round hole in it so I’m sure it surprised someone else in the past!
If the agents got out all the stuff… how did you get stuck having to empty out furniture that was left in the house?
The seller’s agent tried to clear it out the night before closing but there was still lots left. A few days after closing, the two agents finished off the job along with some laborers they hired. I don’t remember if we signed anything at closing to ensure that it would be done, I think H and I just trusted the agents.
What I did was pile things up in the house and yard that should be trashed, unless they were large things and then I put notes on them whether we wanted to keep them or not. The agents and the workers piled all that in the dumpster a few days later. I counted 18 broken cafe chairs in the yard!
That’s awful Greenwich! CB take lots of pictures.
Walk through complete. No car in driveway and not one single piece of trash or debris remaining in the house. I had the unenviable task of opening every cabinet and closet and crawling through basement to make sure there was nothing remaining that they might have missed that would be important to them. Yuck!!! just touching the sticky greasy cabinets was disgusting. I feel really sorry for those sisters if they had to go through those cabinets.
Good news! Can’t wait to see the pre-demolition pictures!!
Maybe the sisters hired someone to clear out the debris!
I will be taking a thorough set of pictures tomorrow afternoon
Terrific! So glad it’s all cleared out. Eager to see the pix and hear that you’ve started demolition.

Ewwwww. Always take rubber gloves to do that.
Hooray! You are “Now free to move about the cabin” to make fun of old airline commercials.
Awesome. Hope the bro is already enjoying his hike.
Did you get the sandbags and drainage stuff in? News here is reporting several cars were crushed in San Diego under a falling tree due to the rain, with one death! And many, many without power. Hope the closing occurs without a hitch, and that you are safe.
Whoa. Just looked at a few news clips of the weather there yesterday. Hope the house and land are intact. They still own it, so if anything happened, aren’t they responsible?
We had the highest winds since I have lived here. Power went out at my house at 7pm yesterday (just as we were starting to watch that Grease Live show). Of course, we are not prepared at all for something like this regarding power loss. Luckily I had the ONLY flashlight we have out on the counter because I had used it to poke around during the walkthrough. Thank goodness I had that thing on the counter because I probably would have never found it up in the jumbled mess in the garage in the dark!!
Not sure which project I need to start this morning… portions of my home roof shingles peeled off in the 55 mph winds last night Huge mess in my yard, but no trees fell down. Lots of asphalt roof shingles strewn all over the yard. I was smart and pulled all patio furniture cushions into my house yesterday but the patio furniture itself flew into all kinds of strange places across the yard and neighbor’s yard. We are so lucky that they didn’t become bullets against our large glass windows in front of the house.
Thank goodness we have power back (came back on about midnight last night) otherwise I would have a huge mess this morning at the bank. I need to send my final wire of funds into escrow at 9am sharp this morning and I would have been driving all over the County trying to find a bank with power and functioning computers.
Wow, CB! We did not have power problems and our roof is intact. We did have lightweight chairs blow around but no damage.
Winds here (about 80 miles north) have picked up again.
