Florida - Georgia football game

I’ve always wanted to go to the Georgia Florida football game in Jacksonville. How hard is it to get tickets? Is it still the world’s largest outdoor cocktail party. And why do they call it that - do they let you drink in the stadium or is everyone just drunk from tailgating?

What is the atmosphere like? Does anyone have any stories about the Florida-Georgia game?

Tickets are pretty difficult to get. Can’t speak in any more detail because I didn’t buy them firsthand last year.

It’s called the biggest outdoor cocktail party because everyone heads over to what they call The Landing, which is basically a huge open area surrounded by bars that everyone congregates at. Many people at the Landing weren’t able to get tickets so they decided to go to the party.

As far as being drunk in the stadium goes, people get rowdy before it. The atmosphere outside of the stadium is electric like nothing I had ever experienced (despite having been to 5 UF home games before that). Unfortunately, a guy threw up 2 rows behind me halfway through the first quarter as a result of how much he drank before the game started. You can buy alcohol in the stadium though, unlike Ben Hill Griffin.

There often seems to be a large amount of confrontation between fans.

If I remember correctly I believe some UGA fans killed a UF fan a couple years ago.

SEC football is intense.
