I’m currently in my first year at UCF and I’ve received their full ride national merit scholarship. I just got an email saying that I’ve been awarded the FIS in lieu of their institutional scholarship. Since this is a state scholarship, could I transfer to another Florida school and receive a full ride there? If so, how likely is it that Florida will discontinue the program, leaving me without financial aid at the Florida school I’ve transferred to?
Full ride? Tuition, fees, room, board, books, travel, incidentals, health insurance?
What is the FIS?

There’s a fact sheet on this website, as well as a contact e-mail and phone number for the Florida Office of Student Financial Assistance. I’d recommend giving them a call to ask your question, OP. Good question, by the way. Please come back and let us know what they say – it might help another student with the same concerns.
I’m also wondering how FIS works with the prepaid program. I’m assuming that I’ll only be reimbursed for my plan cost. Several families from CC went to the UCF National Merit Day and were really impressed with all they offer. Do you mind sharing why you are considering transferring? Good luck OP.

Nice!
The Florida pre-paid is your money to use as you want. Many who get a tuition scholarship for undergrad save that prepaid for grad school
The Florida DoE has been working on fine-tuning the legislation to make it easier to understand and to give a clearer pathway for students who are eligible. It’s definitely an evolving program, though, so it’s best to contact the Dept. of Education directly if you have specific questions. The colleges can answer some, but the DoE has the latest info.
