Florida State College at Jacksonville

<p>Looks like August 1st is the official date for using the new name “Florida State College” at FCCJ. For the life of me, I still don’t understand why FSU didn’t fight the use of this name by the Jax school. Surely the Florida State “brand” is important to FSU and the similarity of the two names seems an infringement on the FSU brand. </p>

<p>Is there even the slightest chance that the two colleges’ administrators and trustees have a backroom deal or plan to merge the schools eventually, allowing FSU a footprint branch in Jacksonville?</p>

<p>I know that FSU didn’t just not have a problem with the name, but they gave FCCJ permission to use the name.</p>

<p>I don’t like the use of the historic name “Florida State College” by this school, but it appears that it was approved anyway.</p>
