Good. Does that mean that president will catch up with the football coach?

Closer. That would be logical, but of course us alumni would then start pressuring her/him to beat HYPS in academics. There’s no free lunch. ;)

My first thought was also whether or not that would bring him up to the football coach’s salary! :)

I work at a public school. We consider ourselves extremely fortunate that our academic staff received a 2% raise this year. However, our managers all received a 3.5% raise. Once again, if we are all supposed to buckle down & weather the economic times “together,” the top brass may want to reconsider what “together” really means (not just in education … business, too).

p2n:

On the assumption that FSU beats HYPS at football? Perhaps FSU knows what its true mission is.

Well, if those of us who are alumni have anything to say we will redirect energies to academics. I love FSU football, but first things first. Then again, successful sports programs are hardly a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

I am hoping FSU would prevail over HYPS in football, but maybe that confidence is misplaced. We’ll have a clearer idea after the BYU game today.

An accomplished academic leader and fundraiser would easily be worth millions more than $1M.

The Trustees posted requirements…

It is good to be king.

Yes…until you get into that [Sword of Damocles](Damocles - Wikipedia) thing. Where I work, we refer to remuneration associated with such positions (including a position as demanding as university president) as: “That’s why they get the big bucks”.

In my opinion they earn every penny.
