<p>Okay I am a soon-to-be Sophomore and I have my heart set on getting into Princeton. My freshman year was not so great (I did take all honors classes but totally did not care at all the first semester, yet got straight A’s the second semester. My final GPA was almost a 3.0), but I’ve heard Princeton does not focus on freshman year, or calculate it into your final GPA. This summer I took three classes online via FLVS, and finished them all with ease. This caused me to wonder just how much I could get ahead and eventually take the highest classes FLVS has to offer (including many AP classes) by the time of my graduation if I decided to go with FLVS full time. I have been a straight A and “gifted” student my entire life (except for the first half of this year, of course!) therefore I know I can continue to achieve straight A’s in these online classes if I really want to (which I do!). There is just one problem: extracurricular activities. This has forever been my weak point. I am aware that in order to be Princeton material, you must not only take part in extracurricular activities but excel in them. I was not involved in, anything really freshman year (cringe). I did do some volunteer work with my church and was hoping on going on a mission trip soon. I hate sports, I can’t sing, dance or play any instruments. What activity could I start now AND continue with without attending a public school AND for that matter, not only continue in but excel in. Better yet, if there is ANY other suggestions for what I can do to become Princeton material (like “hooks”, which I heard were important) please let me know.
