flvs english language

how is the class for english language on flvs? what kinds of work are there? how about the workload? did you feel it was useful? how did you do on the ap exam?

bump…

It’s a lot of writing. Most assignments require you to answer questions on a passage or speech or essay or whatever. There is a lot of essay writing, too.

You also have to read five novels, I believe. I remember reading The Great Gatsby, The Killer Angels, A Raisin in the Sun, Their Eyes Were Watching God, and Into Thin Air (but there were other choices). You have to write essays on said novels and complete other assignments.

The workload is pretty heavy relative to other FLVS classes. You can’t complete the entire class in a week. lol

I think the class prepared me well, but I think a lot of the assignments were just busy work.

I got a 4 on the exam. My rhetorical analysis essay was weak.

thanks! anyone else for some advice?

The multiple choice section is very much like SAT critical reading. My advice would just be to develop a good attention span, as in being able to focus for extensive periods of time. My English Language class was a joke. My goddamn ***** of a teacher failed my essays cuz she didn’t like my style of writing, and I ended up getting a 5 on the test. You just gotta know how to write and interpret analytically, and also know about literary techniques. I only read Scarlet Letter and Great Gatsby in English; the other books were either a joke or just ****ing boring to read.

EDIT: Why does CC cross out cuss words? just noticed it now, lol
