Flying Frontier airline

We’re flying Frontier from Denver to the East Coast, having purchased “The Works.” Do they serve beverages or snacks, for free or purchase, in flight?

You have to purchase them. You also have to pay for carry-on bags.

Oh, yeah. Frontier.

These are the people who lost my daughter’s and her boyfriend’s luggage during a certain trip when, in addition to the things they had officially planned to do, he also intended to propose to her.

Fortunately, he had the foresight to put her engagement ring in his carry-on.

Make sure to put a few extra T-shirts and underwear in your carry-ons, along with any miscellaneous diamond rings you might be bringing with you.

I have only flown Frontier when I went on a Club Med all inclusive vacation, and it was not a happy experience. They lost our luggage, and other people missed their connections from NYC to where ever. there was no free thing on Frontier. after that one experience, we started to book our own flights.

Also less legroom than other airlines. Like Spirit, it’s a glorified school bus.

Frontier and spirit are like safety schools…your last resort when nothing else is available or the savings are way to good to pass up.

My daughter flew Frontier home this past Christmas. She is 5’4", tiny, had little luggage with her, and declared “Never again.” She’s used to the luxury flying of Southwest!

D was actually lucky. She flew in on a Friday and it was fine. The next day niece flew in on Frontier and got caught in the massive suitcase backup. It took like 4 hours to claim luggage. There was a sea of suitcases in the Frontier area as people just left and either came back for them or filed lost luggage claims after 2+ hours of waiting.

My sister is big on Frontier because of the price. I would hate it and don’t consider it. She and her family have had good luck with it, but the horror stories from everyone else I know outweigh that for me.

We had such an uncomfortable and bumpy ride that many of the first time passengers(like myself) were wondering if we were going to survive. Jokingly, of course :frowning: but true story.

I have flown them a few times and never had a problem, but I can see the potential for problems like we have experienced on Spirit. OFten times there is only one flight per day to each destination so weather delays/lost baggage problems are bigger headaches.

My friend had a good experience from NC to NJ.

This airline is similar to Spirit. You get nickled and dimed to death–you pay for everything. I flew on this airline once and that was it for me.

Well, the OP already has his tickets…

My son and his family (girlfriend & my grandson) used Frontier for a ticket to the east coast last summer for my daughter’s wedding - they were also bringing my son’s dad – so that was 4 tickets at a price point they couldn’t pass up. They did not run into any particular problems, but were well aware in advance that they would have to pay for all extras. So I think that the basic rule would be: hope for the best but plan for the worst.

So as for the snacks – bring your own. There will be plenty for purchase at the airport before your board your flight. They do sell snacks on board – see https://www.flyfrontier.com/about-us/inflight-service/ – but you’ll pay about the same and have a more varied selection if you buy them from an airport shop before boarding – plus you won’t have to wait for service. (Or you can pack them from home, if you have room on your carry on)

I flew Frontier for a short flight when I needed to book last minute for a funeral. It was fine. I did not pay extra for seat assignment and they just fill the plane from the back to the front when you check in. On one leg, the plane was only a little more than 1/2 full so they let everyone choose a different seat if they wanted and the people next to me left so I got treated to a whole row.

No such luck on the way back but I was seated next to slim people from the UK so it was fine. We had horrible turbulence on the way back - not their fault - and I was surprised and grateful that the overhead bins didn’t fly open and drop something on my head!

I would fly them again if the price was right and I didn’t have a long flight or connections. They do sell food and drinks on the plane and have a cheery little brochure that has different arrangements you can buy. I checked a bag since it was $25 and would have been $30 to carry on. It arrived on time.

dd flew from San Diego to Denver. Flight was no problem.
Luggage was a problem. She misplaced her gloves, in 10 degree weather, and waited on the tarmac for 2 hours for her luggage to be found and sorted. I chartered a car service for her and they were late by 2 hours because of snow and ice. Price is not worth the headaches.

Neighbors used it knowing it wouldn’t be the most comfortable or probably cheapest if they had to check luggage, but there were direct flights to where their daughter lives and ability to change flight dates at no cost which they needed when daughter was expecting - babies don’t always come on schedule.

D has used it once. Like Spirit she would only do for shorter flights and if traveling with just her backpack.

I prefer to fly Southwest but Frontier is OK when 1. You can get a direct flight 2. You don’t need to take a lot of luggage 3. Your flight is under 3 hours. 4. You’re not flying with children. It does cost you more if you want to choose seats and flying with kids would just about require that. My spouse and I can live not sitting next to one another for a few hours. I normally check one bag and take a small backpack that fits under the seat in front of me. By being a direct flight I don’t worry too much about my luggage being lost and because of the shorter flight I can manage without a snack. They do offer free water.

Yep, Frontier is fine. You get what you pay for. I rarely check a bag so why should I pay for the luxury when most times I do not have a need. All airline seats are small and getting smaller, Frontier is no better or worse in this situation. I bring my own snacks and am fine with whatever seat they assign me, you can change it for free online while checking in before your flight.

It has its place-- I can get my kid from Trenton to Detroit direct for around $60 one way so we put up with the service snafus.

Never fly Frontier or Spirit!
