All former threads were old, so I’m starting a new one. We’re moving cross-country over a several month period, and will need to transport 2 pet cats over time. I have a non-stop flight this trip, so thought it would be a good opportunity to bring one of them. BUT, the information I’m getting from Delta is contradictory! They do not list kennel size on the web, since it varies from plane to plane. You must call and confirm. I’ve called about several questions, and each time I get a different answer as to the size! First time: 8x13x13. That’s TINY. My cat is only 11 lbs, well under their 16lb limit, but that’s about the right size for a pet guinea pig. The second call I asked them to check that specifically since it didn’t sound right, and was told the size is: 10 x 12 x 15. Better – but still not the size of most medium soft carriers that “guarantee” they’ll fit (* on ‘most airlines’). The carrier I have is a soft-sided Sherpa, 10.5x11x17 and even includes a Delta logo on it, ‘guaranteed to fit’. I decided since it was soft sided, it would probably give a little to meet the 15" dimensions. Third call: 8x13x13, no exceptions (although he admitted he was required to read it from a chart). I asked if seat specific, and they said no.
I have a reserved spot, but I’m getting worried that they’ll deny boarding with my kennel after I’m through security, or worse yet, have boarded, and the cabin steward decides it is too big. Then what?
Anyone have issues with flying with a pet on Delta?
