Focus of essay?

As I am writing my essay, I am wondering, is it better to focus on one small incident to convey that my summer was meaningful, or would it be better to talk about my summer in general?

The thing about writing about a small incident is that what I have described does not seem like a “significant” experience (but it is part of a really good summer experience), but when I write about my whole summer it starts sounding extremely cliche.

Sorry I cannot provide specifics, but in general, which is better?

Thanks in advance for any input!

What is significant for one could be trivial for another

If the one small incident is significant to you and you can clearly articulate its impact, then go for it! Personally, I think one specific anecdote is a lot more revealing then talking about one’s entire summer. Remember depth not breadth!
