Where can you get foie gras around Ann Arbor? I have been craving it since last night for some reason…

I don’t see any at Kroger/Meijer and whole food doesn’t sell foie gras because of their hippy humane campaign crap…does anyone know any food market that sells real foie gras? Maybe the meat markets in kerrytown or something?

*Don’t suggest restaurants because the few restaurants I know around the area only serve duck foie gras, not to mention they use the crappy hudson valley type as opposed to real french foie gras

I have a feeling bearcats was asking about seared foie gras, not pate de foie gras. If he wanted pate, he could buy it in any gourmet supermarket.

Yea, looking for fresh goose foie gras (whole lobe) for searing purposes. I actually don’t particularly like pate de foie gras that much. I enjoy the melting in the mouth feeling more than the “flavor”. The only fresh ones I ever see around the area are Hudson Valley duck foie gras. I cant stand duck foie gras; they are just not as smooth and yummy as goose.
My friend in Chicago actually hooked me up with two whole lobes from a chef he knows at a quite well known restaurant but thanks for all the help.

Now I just need to find a hot enough stove to quick sear the slices without them turning into a whole panful of gras and a tiny shrunk foie LOL
