We have finished all of our interviews and tours. Should my student let the number one choice know they are at the top of our list? Student has formed a pretty good relationship with head admissions person and could follow up and let them know they are the first choice. Is that appropriate?
If it really is your #1, then yes.
If it’s their top choice, sure, preferably with a detailed, non-cliched explanation as to why.
Whether it matters is a different question, since many applicants tell 12 schools they are their top choice - a game every admissions office knows
