font size

my font is very small. in fact it's the same size as the font that Stanford uses for it's application. do you think they would be ok with such a small font?

i am within the character limits btw.

OMG that's extremely small.. have mercy on the adcoms!

Yeah, the weird thing is that when I went to submit my application, I checked over the essays in the PDF Format. The font for the short essay 1 was noticeably smaller than the font for 2 and 3. I don't know why and there was nothing I could do to fix it.

As long as it's legible and doesn't look like you tried to cheat and squeeze extra words in, I'm sure it's fine. :)

Ok thank you. I was so frustrated with their online application (stupid character limits for all fields, not letting you fill the whole line, screwing up the format of the essays, etc.) that i decided to do the "paper version" i'm actually typing it up in Adobe Acrobat Pro, and i've managed to increase the font size to 10. I hope they'd be ok with it!

I found Photoshop to be easier than Adobe.. don't know if it's too late to help ya though!

Best of luck :)

lol thanks..i don't have photoshop, but acrobat works fine too..i wonder how many other people would go through the trouble of actually typing it up in acrobat or photoshop! i guess this is one more way to make us "stand out"

I had the same thing happen to me too when my first short essay had a way smaller font than the other two. However, after editing it to fit, everything on the online document turned out ok.

But if you do the paper app, it didn't say anything about character limit or font size. It just said that it should fit in the space below. How many words were they supposed to be?? I really had no idea how many words it was supposed to be!

well, i just followed the online character limit for the paper app, so short responses around 1500 chars and long essay around 5000 chars

how did you know the online character limit if you don't have an online account?? Well you might be using the online one but I don't have an online account period! There is no way I would know. I used 10 pt font Arial. Is that too small? The essays all fit in all the spaces provided after I cut and pasted them. Still, it might have gone over character limit...what do I do???

If it fits and it's 10pt Arial, then it's fine. I'm pretty sure that's what the online app uses. And there is no way they are going to sit there and count every character.

But I indented the margins too, I mean it fills the entire space I had. Will they reject me for going over limit? I hope it's not that serious
