Hello!

I stayed in a Foothill dorm when I did my overnight program and I really liked it. Also, I am a Chem major and Foothill is very close to the chemistry building. I am thinking of putting Foothill for my top housing choice. But I have heard from some people that the people at Foothill are very introverted and basically aren’t social. Is this true, or just a stereotype? I’m definitely not a super party person, but I don’t want to be surrounded by people who won’t want to go to any parties or have fun.

Thanks!

Like any other dorm, it just kind of depends on the people placed on your floor or in your suite, so to an extent it’s random. However, Foothill does attract more of the stereotypically quiet engineering types. So you’re more likely to end up with more people that don’t necessarily like to go out. But it’s still possible you could end up with social people, just maybe not as likely as it would be in the Units. One of my friends lives in Foothill, and her suite is comprised of her, two girls that like to go out on the weekends, and she’s described the rest of her suitemates as somewhat ‘antisocial.’ So, you’ll get a mix, but it might skew toward the quiet types.

If the proximity to the Chem building is the only thing making you want to live there, then maybe you should consider your other options a little more. All of the dorms, other than Clark Kerr, are pretty close to campus, and your freshman year will have you bouncing around campus a lot anyway, not necessarily concentrated near the chemistry building.

lol its not like foothill people don’t have fun…they are just probably more focused on school and less likely to party and party less. Some don’t party at all, but I’m sure they have fun. Everyone has their own crowd and if the crowd you find yourself in doesn’t fit you, you can always change the crowd you’re with. It’s mostly going to depend on what you decide to do with your time.
