foothill housing at Cal

I got foothill housing and i was just wondering if anybody had any input about it. I have heard its quiet and hard to have fun. I have also heard that you could be in a suite with only guys or coed. I know this is really general, and not really a question, but if you have any stories, input, advice, etc… feel free, it would be appreciated.

YAY, FOOTHILL! It is quiet relative to the Units, in that you don’t have to deal with (1) screaming drunk people, (2) screaming homeless people, or (3) police/ambulance/fire sirens dealing with 1 & 2. The only time it gets really noisy is when the Greek is hosting a concert, in which case you’re getting a (wait for it) FREE CONCERT!

It’s hard to have fun only if your definition of fun involves any of the three above noise sources. The suite layout, while seemingly insular, makes for a really awesome sense of community. Rather than being awkward acquaintances with the 60-some people under your RA in the Units, you get to really know either 4, 8-9, 17-18, or up to 30 people (yes, those’re your suite options). And fun comes with friends, so I doubt you’ll be missing it if you make an effort to integrate.

Also, the hall staff work really hard to put on interesting events during Welcome Week and throughout the year–because Unit 4 is so much closer than the other Units, these programs end up being way more fun. You can also check out the weekly Hall Association meetings (Tuesdays) to meet people and get FREE FOOD.

And, uh, what other option would you have besides being in a suite with… only guys… or co-ed. Did you want to be the one guy in a suite full of girls? Good luck, buddy. (Foothill generally has a higher percentage of guys than girls, btw.) If your issue is with being in a “suite”, just know that all housing in Foothill is organized into “suites”, although a suite can consist of either 4 (single-sex), 8-10 (single-sex), 18-20 (co-ed), or up to 30 (co-ed) people.

I’ve lived in a Unit 2 high-rise (typical dorm-style), a Unit 1 mini-suite, and in both a Foothill co-ed and single-sex suite. Let me tell you, Foothill wins, hands-down. If nothing I’ve said convinces you, the food will. Foothill DC (and its Late Night!) is officially the best.

Ooh, @fyibtw, that sounds cool :D

And @mccormickt12, I’m at Foothill, too!! I’ve been looking so hard for some fellow Foothillies xD
