Is this a good choice for Freshmen starting in Berkeley for a CS Major? A couple of questions about the dorm too?
- Do the suites have bathrooms in each room?
- How far is it for a CS Major?
- Is it antisocial?
- How big are the suites?
- Is it quiet?

Should be one bathroom per suite. So, not sharing with the whole floor, but not entirely private.

Freshman CS classes will be everywhere. Classes are big, so they go for big auditoriums. You might have class in Li Ka Shing, Pimental, Dwinelle, VLSB, etc. You’ll also be taking some GE classes, which are also all over campus. So location-wise it’s not a big difference. There’s a good chance you’ll have some sections/labs in Cory, Evans, and/or Soda, Foothill is the closest dorm to those. How far you’ll have to walk depends on where you’re going… it’ll probably be a 5-15 minute walk.

Can’t say. Remember that it’s an entirely new group of students living there each year. Typically the standard highrise dorms are considered more social because rooms are tiny, floor bathrooms, no suite lounges, etc. which makes it harder to hide away. But social/anti-social depends more on who you live with and less what type of housing you’re in. If you end up in a big suite, it probably won’t be too different.

Not sure what the average is, site says 3-11 bedrooms per suite. http://www.housing.berkeley.edu/livingatcal/foothill.html
