The issue is not that NC residents are any less (or more) friendly, welcoming, or approachable than the average student in a national university. It has to do with whether you think there is an important advantage to having a more geographically diverse student body, whether in your classroom discussions, your dormitory social life, or future alumni network. If so, is it worth paying extra for that?
