For colleges that don't superscore, which ACT is better?

First time: 35 English/34 math/34 reading/35 science/12 essay
Second time: 36 English/32 math/36 reading/34 science/? essay

I am going for Clemson's National Scholars Program. Also, can anyone recommend good very academic schools with engineering, possibly with merit aid opportunities? I like the feel of Clemson but I am a more academic person; also very attracted to Yale as an environment. Thanks! I also want to go into engineering, so I'm thinking it'll probably be the first score...

As both your composite scores are equal to 34.5 – rounded up to 35 – I would submit scores from the 1st sitting, as everything is somewhat on an even keel. Your scores from the 2nd sitting, while netting you the same score, bounce around a bit more.

With regards to engineering, see: http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/rankings/engineering-doctorate

@gibby‌ thanks for the opinion!
