<p>Well, in this country only because there are more Christians than Pagans. But in communities where Paganism is more common, the tree is called the ‘Yule’ tree.</p>
<p>In a sense, one could say that the Pagans lost touch with their roots by converting, or assimilating into Christianity, or one could also say that Christianity assimilated into Paganism…could be looked at either way…just as you said you didn’t think Jews should do. Many customs are the result of some such assimilation. It would be difficult to trace something back to a time in which there were no outside influences.</p>
