For everyone that didn't get those full/half tuition scholarships.......

are there any scholarships similar to that for current undergraduates? and also i heard that you can “easily” negotiate your financial award after a couple of semesters if you do very well academically (like 4.0).

Some people when i visited even suggested applying for a transfer to “name brand” colleges such as cornell, or yale, or stanford, etc and using that as leverage to get more aid… is this possible/ is it true?

BUMMMP?? any current WashU students wanna reply?

BUMMMMPPP 10 char

I haven’t heard of being able to negogiate financials once enrolled. While I’m not 100%, it doesn’t seem too likely - the point of scholarships is to attract students.
I also wouldn’t weigh financial decisions on getting a possible 4.0 a year or two down the line

Usually, Wash U wants to keep students who are already here, and they want to make sure that you graduate. If your financial situation does not really allow you to keep going after a year or so, then it’s possible that you’ll get some kind of aid if you reflect it to the fin aid office. A good GPA will certainly help, although I wouldn’t bank on still maintaining a 4.0 after a year or two (depending on your major though). However, for scholarships (academic) I don’t know.

ya i’ve never heard of anyone trying that… definitely try talking to the financial aid if you feel like attending isn’t possible without more help, but to count on a 4.0 or getting accepted to an ivy doesn’t sound like a great idea to me.

There are definitely scholarships you can apply for once you’ve enrolled, although I don’t know how many of them are really funded by WashU… those are worth a shot, for sure, but don’t get yourself out on a limb…
