For fun, a hypothetical situation

A boy and a girl, the girl one year older, reside in a small town in a Southwestern state. Both are brilliant students with outstanding academic and artistic abilities. They are also very much in love. The girl is accepted to her dream school, one of the top five ranked private universities. The boy has everything going for him: perfect GPA, valedictorian, teachers and counselors can’t get enough of him, AP, SAT, SAT II near-perfect scores across the board, accomplished in track and theatre, honors band, debate team, trilingual. Time for applications comes around, and this boy’s undisputable top choice is the university his girlfriend now attends. A natural writer, he writes an excellent common application essay and associated supplements. But when it comes time to write the essay regarding why he wants to attend that particular university, he feels that he’s in a conundrum. He knows that the science program he’s interested in is just as good in similar schools. His main inspiration to attend this school is, in fact, his girlfriend. If he writes a heartfelt essay regarding this as his essay about his choice of this school, how would the admission committee feel about it?

Don’t. Just don’t.

He’s rejected w/o a second thought. 100% of the time. His essay would be suicidal to his chances.
