Be harsh, be brutal, and be honest

How do you all feel about this?

how about you tell us all why you like harvard so much… and also explain how you can believe that any ivy would be a good fit for you… you do realize that they are eight very different institutions, right?

prestige hookery.

alright

first, i’m not really sure what prestige hookery means
i’m assuming it means blindly picking schools because they have a great reputation
no doubt, they all have great reputations, but there’s more to them than merely their names
why ivy leagues?
my sibling had a very positive experience in one, and highly recommends it to me
that’s what got me first curious
i want a university with great resources, prestige is fine on the side
i want a university that will help me conduct great research, especially psychological research
which ivy leagues? as of yet, cornell and harvard
Cornell’s campus is something else - i’ve been going up there for years, and it’s better every time
Harvard draws in the articulate, highly motivated, and opinionated people i enjoy being around
Also, Harvard’s staff has included some incredible psychologists -offhand, Howard Gardner (Multiple Intelligences Theory) and Kohlburg (moral development)
not to mention, some of Harvard’s most popular programs (Econ, Psych, Poli-Sci) are the ones I’m most interested in
certainly Harvard is not the only college to teach these, but, combined with the above reasons, it certainly makes it the most preferable

now, with my motives out of the way, how does my resume seem?

sorry about my cynicism… i think you have as good a shot as anyone… i love cornell as well… although i dont think my stats are as good as yours… which isnt good for me haha… but if you were to apply to every ivy… i would say that you would get into at least 2 or 3… probably including cornell

nah, it’s cool man
i know in a few days of browsing around here i’ll prob’ve lashed out a li’l, too

applying to every ivy’ll be very intense

i think what i’ll do for sure is apply to cornell/harvard, and i really want to do some college visits on the others

the others right now are nothing more than names, i’ve still to penetrate the surface
