For Princeton EDers - How Strong is your school?

I go to a public exam school in Boston, MA. I was just wondering how other schools compared to mine of those applying Princeton ED. Just so we have a reference point, let’s call my school very competitive and rank your schools (and stats if available). I got our stats from our school website.

I just want to know, since everyone in the chances forum has very competitive when describing their schools.

Hm. My school is a public magnet school with an IB Programme located in Miami, FL.

Enlisted: ~3000 students
Rank in US News Week: 13th 2005; 29th 2006
Nat’l Merit: 6 Semifinalist, 13 Commended (I think)

Not sure about SAT scores. I’d say my school is very competitive.

My school is Livingston High School in New Jersey. We had around 40 Commended, and 10 semifinalists in this year’s senior class. Oh yeah, we’re not ranked that high though.

From my school’s profile (ranked in the top 50 public schools in the US)

Magnet Public School (soon to be performing arts – next year) in Port St. Lucie, Fl that offers IB

We have about 3 NMSF and 6 Commended.

Last year, one girl was accepted to Dartmouth, another to Cornell.

A few years back a guy got into MIT.

Other than that, I’m not so sure. We’re above average, I’d say, but nothing near the cream of the crop.

Public IB School in Tampa. Ranked 10th by Newsweek. Average SAT score around 1350. We had 18 national merit semifinalists and probably about 25 commended scholars with a class size of 138

Public high school in new jersey. avg sat score of 1160? 2200 students, around 550 per class, very asian. i don’t have the statistics of ap scores or whatever, but we have about 20 semifinalists and 40 commended.

footonthehill, i think you’re in my number theory class at shp ;)

5 graduating classes; ours has 20 students; 10% of all students are National Merit Semifinalists or better, 17% National Merit commended or better. In 5 years out of 72 graduates, we have gotten acceptees to Harvard, Stanford (full tuition scholarship), UVa (full tuition scholarship), USMA, USNA, the other academies, and Georgia Tech. I think we have 100% to higher education (or close). No official AP/IB curriculum, though people have taken AP tests in Calculus AB, Biology, and World History (mostly 5’s, some 4’s and maybe a couple 3’s–usually about 5 people/year, maybe 15 total or so). Big catch for the school is Junior and Senior thesis papers–written and presented before an audience (usually ~25 pages). Senior thesis has to be defended before a panel. Unfortunately, it’s a bit of an unknown, though, because it’s small, unaccredited (!), and not been around for too long.

public science magnet school with ib in california. ranked in top 100 by newsweek.

each class is around 520-550

36 national semifinalists this year (c/o 2007), don’t know how many commended

LOL GXING, that is so funny! You are really good at ping pong right?

our school has like 34 semifinalists and i think about 80 commended students out of a class of 624

Am I the only one that goes to a normal school? I feel like everyone practically has a spot reserved at an Ivy because of their magnificent school and I just gotta cross my fingers…
