When you are preparing to take the SAT do you focus on just one subject for that particular test date?

Would it look bad to colleges if you score, say, a 1700 one day, but you aced the math section and then another day you get a 1800 but you got high marks in reading and writing? My top choice is Claremont McKenna which does superscore but it’s a reach school so I don’t want to do poorly on my total scores for a test date and then not get into Claremont and have colleges see I only got a 1800 because they’re only looking at the highest score for one date.

Are you working hard to get as high as you can one day, or just as high as you can on a certain subject one day?

Why wouldn’t you just do the best you can in every section on every test? You might improve your score depending on the difficulty of the test.

Even with Superscore I’d still want to have a good solid score on a single test.

I would try to stay away from only doing good on one section and bombing the others because you never know :/

Ha! I’m in this predicament too.

Took the SAT today to raise my CR…and completely blanked during the math and writing sections. Most of the schools on my list are superscore-okay, so I’ll live :)

No because the schools that I want to attend that superscore are all reaches. It’d be throwing a hail marry if I tried a superscore strategy.
