Are the cherry blossoms still in bloom? Would it be worth it to go on a trip there this weekend?

I just drove by the tidal basin yesterday. They are no longer in bloom. But, it’s beautiful weather and tons of people out and about. If you only want to see cherry blossoms, then don’t bother. If you’d like to come hang out in a cool city with lots going on and perfect “tourist” weather, then absolutely.

There are a lot of other things blooming, so the area is lovely. Just those cherries are done for.

I love DC - I actually went there twice last year, but I am saving up for a vacation, so I think I am going to hold off for now. I also found out that cherry trees are still in bloom at the New York Botanical Garden!

Newark NJ actually has the largest display of cherry blossoms. If they’re still blooming in NY, they’d be there too.

We’re about to hit peak in Chicago right now, at least a month early. I am seeing lilacs that have never been out before May.

I grew up in Washington D.C. and lived there for years as a young adult also. The blooming things in that area, particularly the azaleas, are amazing!

I am in DC now, and I am still seeing cheery blossom. There is a cherry blossom festival tomorrow, according to our car driver. Ok, when you have seen one cherry blossom, you have seen them all. So we are going shopping tomorrow in Georgetown.

The reason to be in DC this weekend is…the Boss is playing here this weekend. We have center front tickets.

The Yoshino cherry blossoms around the tidal basin are long done (even though the festival is still going), but there are other flowering trees out there, dogwoods, redbuds, and a few kwanzen cherries still holding on. Unfortunately, oak trees are in full bloom! It’s lovely but bring your zyrtec and tissues.
