ANN ARBOR, MI – Police are investigating a reported slashing that occurred in downtown Ann Arbor on Tuesday, Nov. 15.

A woman in her early 20s reported to police that she was cut about 2:20 p.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of Liberty Street, as she was passing the Michigan Theater, Ann Arbor police Sgt. Aimee Metzer said.

The woman told police an unknown white man, about 45 years old, came from behind her and cut her on the left cheek with something, possibly a safety pin, Metzer said.

The woman was wearing earphones at the time and therefore did not hear whether the man said anything, but believed the incident may have been related to a safety pin she was wearing, Metzer said.
