For those on the waitlist... (at least at Exeter)

I spoke with my friend (far far away, so I am not sure if region matters), and he said that when he called Exeter it was beneficial to speak with the person who is in charge of your Grade. Usually there is a head of admission for each grade, who will take care of the waitlists. I am sure certain schools also have per gender, per XXX deans or something.

I am not sure how valid this is, but I trust his word.

but how would you know who is head of admission?
i think if you just somehow contact the school, it’ll give you a boost

thanks for the info, though

muffinqueen, you could just call the general admissions office number and ask if any staffers handle specific grades. I’m guessing this is the case at many of the larger schools, not just Exeter. It’s also important that you make the contact yourself, don’t have your parents do it (but you guys probably knew that already).

that’s true…
do you think it hurts if you write a letter instead of calling?
or is it the same?

Writing a letter by snailmail just to ask a few questions is not worth it, just call. If it is a letter of interest, however, it will help.

Call weekly reminding them of your burning, inextinguishable desire to enroll and notifying them of new accolades and achievements…

Weekly may be much, I would say biweekly. Even then don’t tell them your rank went from 4 to 3 or something else immaterial.

Does “biweekly” mean twice a week or every other week? What does “semiweekly” mean?

Every other.

I’ll add this here. He said that at this point 44% of students had accepted offers of admission.

that’s kinda low…
but they do overaccept
how does he know this?

They do, I guess. I am sure there are a handful of people like me who are stilling deciding. And read the above, he spoke with the director of admissions for his grade, I think.

i probably should do that

I am sure a bunch of people are gonna send everything on A9-A10.
