For those who studied for the ACT, what ?s were on the real test that were not inprep

Sorry I had to abbreviate the title, I hope most could still understand it.

For those who used the usual suspects of ACT review - The Real ACT/Red Book, PR review, Barron’s, etc - what questions came up on the real ACT test that you did not find in any of the prep books? Were they any strange questions in English, Math, or Science that you were totally unprepared for? If so what (to the best of your memory) were they? Also, were they any extremely difficult essay questions? This question goes to anyone who hs taken the test during anytime, not just in the last year or anything. Thanks so much for any help you can provide.

I think the Official tests were more difficult than The Real ACT prep book, and PR. In fact, they are upgrading the tests every year. It depends of your level of knowledge. In my case, I can tell that I failed it badly, even though I’ve been preparing for months. I am waiting for my next shot on November. =(

**It’s the IRON MAN!!! **

there was one logic problem in math section that i have never seen in act preps or previous act tests…i spent like 5 minutes on that one

i found that math section has the tendency to give more “surprises” compared to other sections…

hope this helps

I saw a basic geometry reasoning problem using the “if p=q then not p=not q”, that was the main one that stood out to me

no, that question wasn’t an “=”. it was implication.

it was:
p => q (p implies q)

that is EQUIVALENT to saying:
~q => ~p (not q implies not p)

This type of problem comes up on the SAT like one of every three tests; didn’t expect it on the act tho

there was a scientific notation problem on the math section. that completely through me off guard for a second
