<p>Just happened upon a new book “Quick and Healthy Meals from Trader Joe’s”, by Jamie Davidson, M.S. ReSolve Publishing, Walnut Creek, CA. Author is cooking teacher…book is not affiliated or sponsored by TJ. Contains approx. 100 recipes.</p>
<p>Recipes are divided into 3 main sections (Chicken, Seafood & Vegetarian) and each section is split into 3 sections (Mexican, Asian/Indian & Everything Else).<br>
Recipes appear to be fairly quick and simple, obviously using TJ’s ingredients, but also indicate Nutrition facts per serving. Just what I need to get me out of the same old recipe rut…Trying Seared Curry Salmon tonight!</p>
<p>This may sound strange but I really miss the Trader Joes we lived near when my son was a toddler. The people who worked ther were so nice to us. The cashiers were almost all surfers and the would call my son “little dude.” Plus, my son would try anything that the were making in the sample kitchen! Trader Joes made him into the three year old curry nut he was. </p>
<p>We haven’t lived near a Trader Joes for years but my memories of the store are really good. And I would have loved to have had that cookbook.</p>
<p>That is priceless! And true here in PA as well. H is a Trader Joe’s junkie, and comes back from there nearly every Saturday with yet another story of the morons in the parking lot. I go on weekdays so as to avoid the crowds!</p>
<p>Wow, we have the same parking lots morons in MA! I never go on weekends either. Made the chicken teriyaki for dinner last night (YUM!) and I’m taking the shortbread cookies with the chocolate drop to a meeting tonight.</p>
<p>Yes, I saw that cartoon yesterday and thought it was hysterical. Showed it to my son who goes with me to TJ from time to time and he loved it. It seems that ever TJ has some awful parking situation. It must be a trademark or something.</p>
<p>Laughed hard at the cartoon. TJ parking lot morons! They are abundant in WA, too! One of the local TJs probably got the cheapest piece of commercial real estate on the side of a sparsely populated strip mall, and the parking lot is not the easiest to navigate. People backing out of some stalls kept bumping their cars into a light pole strategically located in the middle of the lot, and finally the store posted a sign by the affected stalls reminding folks to look for the big concrete object.</p>
<p>I’ll have to look for the cookbook for DS. Sounds great.

<p>Thanks for the info. I’ve heard of Trader Joe’s cooking classes, but there hasn’t been one near enough to me, and even if I did, it’s the kid who needs the info! I ordered the book today from the author, who was prompt and very friendly in responding to my email when her site (originally) wasn’t working properly. <p>oaklandmom, I think that Pasadena Trader Joe’s is the original. I think it’s great how it’s walking distance from Caltech! Well, my version of walking distance, at any rate :)</p>
<p>I wonder which TJ’s has the worst parking lot of all. One of our local ones features tons of attitude; the industry vibe just oozes everywhere (not surprising, CBS Studios is across the street). Plus, there’s a Pinkberry store in the same complex. And there is absolutely no street parking, so there is no way to avoid the parking lot entirely. </p>
<p>One of my kids reported to me that she had friends over who took one look at our pantry and said “wow, everything in here is from Trader Joe’s!”</p>
<p>I think my Trader Joe’s on LI, NY has to be up there for worst parking. Its in a little strip mall with a TJ Maxx. During the holidays was the worst. People create their own parking spots that block off the driving lanes. You get caught with no place to go and three cars behind you. There were times I went, looked and left without shopping. Its bad because I’ve become addicted to some of the products, and nothing else will suffice. There are no substitutes.</p>
