For UC Berkeley and UCLA

I live in California. I got 1610 on my SAT and 27 on my ACT (this was my first time and I am retaking both to get a score these schools would desire, so please don’t let my current scores make you immediately say no and assume I got decent scores to consider the rest of my information). Subject test scores are 610 on Math Level 2, 550 on Spanish without listening, and 510 on US History (I know these are average/low but subject test scores aren’t required and I am not retaking these), AP exams I got a 4 on Spanish and 2 on US History. I have been in student government for 2 years and this year I am the senior class secretary, I am president/founder of Spanish club, president of Science Olympiad, vice president of Science Bowl, and I participate in Gay-Straight Alliance and I am a white lesbian. My cumulative GPA weighted is 4.22 and I am in top 10% of my class. I am taking the highest classes currently and I took and passed calculus during the summer at a community college to get ahead before my senior year to be in calculus II during the year. I plan on getting a job during the school year and I do 30 hours of community service every school year because of student government. Neither of my parents have graduated from high school. These are all of the things that could be considered by these schools and based on your experience I want to know what my chances to get in are, don’t be afraid to hurt my feelings! Also, let me know what I can do to increase my chances!

“Dont be afraid to hurt my feelings!”

Well, those test scores are horrendous. Everything else is great, but seriously, bump up those scores. If you get your subject tests to 700+ (keep in mind UC’s don’t even care about them unless you’re STEM) and score 2100+ on the SAT I think you have a good shot.

Your test scores are going to hurt your chances. GPA/EC’s with leadership and community service are good.
You really need to get some test prep done to have a decent chance at both these schools. Like @quaker789 stated, you need subject test scores in the 700 range and SAT of 2000+/ACT 30+. Essays will also come into play, so spend time on these and make them shine. Currently both these schools are Reaches.

Haha I am very aware that my test scores are horrendous I could not believe it when I got them… but thank you looks like all I need to do is boost my test scores.
