Hi guys,
I have some confusion regarding the generation of the adversity score by the Collegeboard. Is it only for the flagship SAT test, or does it also apply to the Subject Tests and AP Scores? It is important for me to know because although I will not be sending in my SAT, I would like to send my Subject Test scores and AP Exam scores. For example, if I send in my AP Biology Exam score but not my SAT score, will colleges still be able to see an adversity score?
It is only for the SAT. When CB announced the addition, it said it was for the SAT test. It was used in “beta” version with a number of colleges for a year before the announcement and, for those, was applied only to SAT.
As to submitting AP scores, be aware that they are not required for determining admission, and if you want to provide them, you can just self-report your scores in the application. Official scores are not required until after you have been admitted and want college credit. The only exception to that is that a small number of colleges (e.g., NYU) allow you to submit AP scores without submitting any SAT or ACT test for the purpose of determining admission, and if you choose to go that route, official AP scores are needed.
