Fordham/Ailey Audition

@gmfalv So, DS just had his audition for Fordham and it has dropped off his list. He said it went well but that it just didn’t feel very organized, compared to, well ALL, of the other ones he’s done. He said even UCLA’s audition which was like 1 hour and 1 minute of dancing seemed better. He just really wasn’t impressed at all. So I can see why it dropped on your D 's list.

My daughter had the opposite experience. We found the school and the audition to be very organized. It was a relaxed enviroment which gave everyone a chance to do their best. Everyone got to do their solo and have an interview which is a big plus. It is near the top of the list for my DD. In the end, all dancers with find the right place.

@dancetimestwo I think what made a difference was that we did regional audition here on the West Coast. So we didn’t get the benefit of the campus audition experience. The other thing and we kind of knew it before auditioning, is how ballet focused they seem to be. My DS loved the Ailey Company when we went to see them at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion last year.

We felt that it was just way too serious and uninviting and intimidating for no reason. Every other program my D has auditioned for has been a much more positive and relaxed experience. At the end of the day we’re also auditioning these programs too- after all we’re the ones paying the tuition lol.
