This is the official discussion thread for Fordham Class of 2030 RD applicants. Ask your questions and connect with fellow applicants.
There was a TikTok video today where a Fordham student said the acceptance rate for 2030 was 29% and that current students had been told this recently. Would welcome comment or confirmation.
Maybe 29% in the EA/ED round. But RD round not even done yet. I do know they are trying to lower admissions rate, but it’s all just games. For example, waitlisting a whole bunch of people and then accepting a whole bunch off the wait-list makes your admission rates look lower.
Thank you.
The President of Fordham openly talked about substantially lowering the acceptance rate, admitted students, college counselors, and AOs also spoke about the acceptance rate for this cycle to be 29%
Typically RD round is where a lot of rejections take place at least thats the case for similar schools like NYU, Columbia, Babson, Tulane and its how they keep the acceptance rate down so much
A school needs to yield a certain number of students to make up their class. Unless they increase their yield or increase the pure number of applicants, there’s not a lot they can do to manipulate their acceptance rate.
Yes. And Fordham already has lots of applicants, so not a lot of room to increase there. Fordham’s biggest issue has been yield. Because of its location, the cost is very high. And because they don’t have a big endowment, their aid (both need aid and merit aid) is not great. Parents might be willing to sacrifice and pay a high price for a bigger name school (e.g. NYU) but not for Fordham. The student may prefer Fordham, but they can attend their state flagship for half the price or less.
Fordham does have some full tuition scholarships and even a handful of full ride scholarships, and that will attract some students. It’s what made Fordham affordable for us, and we have been happy with the quality of the education and experience. But if not for this scholarship, we would have chosen elsewhere.
