Fore....the 78th Masters

Couples was amazing. He was my sentimental favorite, although I didn’t have that much invested in it. I really did enjoy watching the showdown between Watson and Spieth. Congratulations to Bubba.

I couldn’t help but watch the great shots players were making and think that if you were a youngster thinking that maybe you could make your living doing this…well, maybe you could if you can make some shots like those. Simple as that.

I was there Friday and Saturday. I don’t play golf (I can - I choose not to!), but I absolutely love going to the Masters. My in laws live in Augusta, and we usually get tickets for a day or two from their friends. The course is so hilly - my rear hurts after hours of walking uphill! H and I saw all the golfers at one time or another over the two days, and we LOVE Jiminez … he walked onto the practice green yesterday, lit up a stogie, stuck it in his mouth, and proceeded to drain every put. He truly seems to enjoy being on the course. Jason Day seems like a guy I’d like to have a beer with. Freddy Couples still has it going on. Adam Scott is a beautiful man. It’s fun to watch them golf (man, can they hit!!), and it’s fun to see other sides of them.

My in laws live in a golf course community where many players stay. Earlier in the week, I was working out at the club when Rory McIlroy came in. He sat down on the machine right next to me. I figured it might be my brush with greatness, but alas, he did not have his best tournament. However, I am 99% sure that Jordan Spieth was also working out that day … I knew he was a golfer but did not recognize him at the time … but I am pretty sure now it was him. He is quite a guy to be able to hold up under immense pressure and finish in 2nd place at 20 years old. I watched several young golfers get hot at the Masters over the years, but most fall apart under the pressure. I think he is the real deal!

All the players seem to be really nice guys (Fuzzy Z does not count). However, I just can’t stand Adam Scott’s Caddie who used to carry the bag for Tiger. Am I alone in this?

sorry, cupksdad, I like Steve Williams…was happy to see him switch to Adam’s bag. Wish we would have seen more of him today, as I had Adam as a top 5 in my pool…

I have to root against Adam Scott as long as he keeps using that godawful long putter. The ban on those things can’t some soon enough. Is there anything aesthetically less pleasing than Kevin Stadler standing over a putt with that broomstick?

I enjoy Feherty a lot more during the Masters. He’s less obnoxious but still sharp. Great line early today when Blixt hit a drive left into the crowd and had to move some fan’s stuff. He picked up a purse and Feherty said "that sooo does not match his outfit.

I thought they could still use long putters but that they could just not be so long that the player can pivot it on his chest. Correct me if I am wrong.

Yes that is correct

I believe it would be a physical impossibility for Kevin Stadler to hold a long putter and not have it anchored against his belly… :)

I think that both Adam Scott and Kevin Stadler anchor the putter and, therefore, will have to change their putting style when the rule goes into effect. Both are using a soon-to-be illegal method. Thank god…

They have until January 2016 until they need to stop anchoring the putter. I think they should have done away with the long/belly putters entirely but no one consulted me. :)

Club Car is based in Martinez – about a mile from where my parents live. Deega, my dad is right off of Columbia Road in Martinez. Has been there for the past 40 years, with the exception of a short assignment at Ft. Knox. I went to the old Evans HS back in the dark ages!

Isn’t Club Car actually in Evans? At least that is what their mailing address is, though the zip code isn’t. You know how clear that Martinez/Evans line is, lol. :)

It’s on Washington Road, just to the right of the car dealerships at what used to be Columbia Square. I always considered Evans starting at Owens Rd. Let’s put it this way – my dad lives in a straight line from Club Car towards Columbia Rd., and he’s considered Martinez. Not that it makes a lot of difference. :)
