Hi guys! I live in the United Arab Emirates and am Pakistani. I’m gonna start A levels next year. I wanna learn a new language. My native language is Urdu and after years of studying, and IN, English, it’s safe to say I’m fluent at it, too. I want to learn another language out of personal interest but also because it’ll be an advantage for me when I apply to competitive American universities like I plan to do. So, i’m really confused. At first, I decided to study French because… just because. I just always had a fascination with it and one cannot simply forget about the accent! It’s just such a soft language and all that pretty stuff. Also, it has a lot of speakers so it won’t be useless. Then I realized it was very dumb of me to live in the middle east and not attempt to learn Arabic. It’s not like I hate Arabic. I just had an awful arabic teacher in the two years I went to school here and things happened that made me dislike this place for a while. Would it be a good idea to learn Arabic? It’ll be good if i want to come back here and work but I’m not sure about the future. I then thought that since I want to study computer science and i heard a lot about Germany being the “power house of Europe”, why not study German and maybe in the future if I ever plan to go there, it will be useful? Or maybe even Chinese or Japanese. I might be really wrong but that’s why I’m here. I would learn all the languages in the world if time wasn’t an obstacle. Help!
Tl;dr: which one out of french, German or arabic is the most useful for a future computer scientist?! (as in job prospects)
