foreign language program without proficiency requirement?

I’m really interested in learning Japanese, or possibly Chinese. I’ve studied Japanese a bit on my own, and my brother is fluent, but I’ve never taken a class, as my school doesn’t offer it. I really want to participate in an immersion program in Japan, but many programs require you to have a certain proficiency level. Are there any good ones you know of that don’t require any experience? (Preferably for Japanese, though I wouldn’t mind Chinese.) And I should probably add that I’m looking for one for next year, not this year.

Why don’t you start with a program in this country? Concordia Language Villages and Middlebury are two to check out.
