I went to high school in another country (Russia). How can I fulfill my foreign language requirement for UCSD? I am trying to transfer from California community college to UCSD…Any advice? I really don’t feel like taking a year of Russian at community college. It’s a waste of time and money…

Take Spanish or German or Chinese…?

You can probably take a language test in Russian similar to an AP test. Talk to your community college or UCSD about it.

Pretty easy if you plan on completing IGETC. You only need to give your ccc a copy of your high school transcript from Russia. In my case, my cc didn’t even require an official copy, but have one handy just in case. There is no need for you to take another foreign language class or tests or anything.

Basing this on the IGETC sheet from my ccc (<a href=“MiraCosta College | 404):%5B/url%5D”>MiraCosta College | 404):

What are the other methods that can be used to meet the Language Other than English requirement for the UC? (LOTE)
Score of 3 on the Foreign Language AP test; satisfactory score on SAT II subject test; score of 5 or higher on the International Baccalaureate Higher Level Examination; score of 5, 6, or 7 on the “A” level exam; grade of A, B, or C on the “O” level exam; official records that verify completion with grades “C” or better of two years of formal schooling at the 6th grade level or higher in an institution where the language of instruction is not English; satisfactory completion of a proficiency test administered by a community college, university, or other college in a language other than English.
