Foreign language requirement

I’m looking to apply to Northwestern’s music school in the fall of 2011; I’ve got the scores, I think/HOPE I’ve got the talent. The only hole in my resume is my lack of a foreign language. Spanish is offered at my school, but through scheduling mess-ups I was unable to take it. My only option left is to pay $1200 which I definitely do NOT have to get a year’s worth of college credit. So if I’m unable to pay for the language classes, how much will it negatively affect my application?

Background info: ACT: 32; GPA: 3.8ish UW; 4/5 APs taken; highly rigorous courseload; top 5% of class; lots of music ECs and summer activities.

It appears that your graduation requirements for your high school do not stipulate a foreign language. However, it is a line item that NU admissions will look for in your application.

PS. Everything else falls within the range. G’luck!

I know that the majority of your decision for acceptance is based on the audition but they do still look at your transcript.
