<p>What’s the difference between the beginner i and beginner ii courses for Chinese? And should someone with no previous experience with the language take a certain one?</p>
<p>The i one is probably first semester or something. I would suggest contacting the foreign language department because I think it said someplace in my packets-of-doom that you need to do that to take a foreign language. Also, you might have to take a placement test if you have any previous knowledge.</p>
<p>Beginner I is the first course and is only offered Fall semester. Beginner II builds on top of it and is only offered Spring semester.</p>
