I am still recovering ,but have given some thought to a Fantasy Mother’s Day . It would involve a weekend in an exotic location ,probably Capri or Shanghai . A room with a magnificent view ,a romantic dinner and great shopping . How about you moms out there ?

A warm, breezy day on a beach. A good book, a good drink, a wonderful massage, a nap and dinner to follow.

I’d love to get a kitten. But my roommates (H, S, D) are all allergic. :(

Oh, and my fantasy kitten would be best friends with our black lab. :D

Accurate punctuation.

Afternoon tea with my family at the Fairmont Empress in Victoria BC. :)

Dinner at Taillevent with my D and my Mom.

An opportunity for my 26-year-old son and 22-year-old daughter to be in the same room with each other and actually talk.

They haven’t seen each other since Christmas 2010, and they almost never communicate with each other by any of the technologically assisted ways in which young people communicate. But I think that if they spent some time together, they would discover that they have more in common than they used to – especially since both are now working at full-time jobs and living in their own apartments. They probably have things they could talk about; they just haven’t discovered them.

The two of them were wonderful playmates in childhood. It’s sad that they have grown so far apart as young adults.

My Mother’s Day fantasy would be to see and talk to my mother one more time. But she died in 2003.

My mom died in 1981, long before I met my H. No obligations. Also no expectations from H or son, both unromantic/unsentimental types. I sometimes wonder what it would be like to have a mother around once past the age of 30- never knew grandmothers either as they both had died. Fantasy would be to be treated royally- it’s never going to happen.

To have my kids all here and engage in actual conversation without anyone pulling out any “smart” devices. (I say from my iPad…)

Heck, I’d be happy if they were here and talking even with smart phones dinging and buzzing.

Fantasy would be to be able to hold my babies again, at a few months old, when they have just started smiling. Or when they were three or four and saying the cutest things. I really miss those days.

TatinG- That’s why we have grandchildren !
