I have to write an essay in 12.5 Times New Roman double spaced, but in the two things I’ve used to write an essay (OpenOffice and GoogleDocs) the double spacing applies only vertically and only makes the space vertically more spaced out. I remember in Microsoft Word it would put two spaces after each word but I don’t think I can do that with these programs. Does the teacher want it double spaced vertically, horizontally between words, or both? If horizontally between words or both how do I double space in OpenOffice or GoogleDocs? I googled it but only found people saying how to double space vertically.

Also, what font size should I make the title?

Double spacing means the space between the lines of text. Not the spaces between words. Use the same size font for the title.
