Fort Dix!

My question is to all of you posters—Is USNA getting more security? We visited last summer–and the security seemed extremely lax–Anything new especially after the terrorist attempt at Ft. Dix?

My last visit to USNA was 2 weeks ago… not sure if anything has tightened up since this incident, other than to say that the plans to beef up security have already been underway for several months now, most notably at Gate 1…and especially for pedestrian traffic.

When compared to my day, the security now is quite tight, which isn’t to say I’m comfortable with the current (visible) arrangements, but there it is.

Believe me, it has been long known that USNA makes for a juicy target for terrorists. After 9/11, one would hope that such a threat is taken more seriously whether the average Joe sees the changes or not.

WOW GA!! That’s a creepy article! It so makes me appreciate all our men and women willing to wear the uniform!! They are targets for islamofacists wherever they happen to be! God Bless our Military!

To circumvent the judicial system and deem these 6 as “enemy combatants” would be to signal the death of the American judicial system. We have the system for a reason. The Constitution is territorial, they were on U.S. soil and are thus entitled to the same rights as everyone else. I guess an old-fashioned trial just isn’t as much fun as unilaterally declaring guilt; is it?

Oh sorry, they were “islamofascists”. That changes everything!

Not.

Why isn’t this news on TV? They don’t look like “homegrown” types either.

A great question, and more so when one watches some of the mickey mouse stories Katie & Co. report nightly (and Brian Williams and whoever’s on the other “entertainment tonite” disguised as nightly news.

And the oafs wonder why fewer tune in all the time.

When we went to PPW, they had plenty scary guys on the gates, wearing a lot of gear, and having big guns. Plus, my son said I couldn’t hop the stone fence that separates Mother B’s front entrance way from the other part (Stribling Walk, I think) because it would make the Marines very upset (apparently, he belongs to the Navy, now:) ).

In short, I think they have increased security on the gates, as well as security around the midshipmen.
