Well…this is a college forum so you are unlikely to fine a discussion on raising 10 year olds here.

I have no direct experience with it myself, but I have heard good buzz over the years:

I have no ideas.

I really wonder there must be a forum or discussion with good ideas from parents or teachers on how to raise a smark kid of 10 years old?

Anyone can help?

If you are looking for resources for gifted students, I can recommend the following sites: http://www.hoagiesgifted.org/, <a href=“Davidson Institute | Programs & Support for the Profoundly Gifted”>Davidson Institute | Programs & Support for the Profoundly Gifted, and
http://nagc.org/. I don’t know if they have forums per se but it might help you narrow your search for resources. Good luck!

Really misc.kids is what you want.

Maybe it’ll be easier for you to access through Google Groups:

http://groups.google.com/group/misc.kids/topics?hl=en

Thanks for all your replies. But they seem not on the target.

CC is a forum helping those with queries about college application, adaptation and all other relevant issue related to colleges.

While I’m looking for a similar forum or discussion for raising a smark kid who is 10 years old,

I suppose many parents here had undergone such process asking advices from others…I would like to discuss and share with those parents…and I suppose some forum will carry such function as there is huge demand for that.

I understand completely what you are seeking, but I have no information to pass on. I suspect those here that have passed on info are suggesting the most relevant possibilities that they know of. I don’t think people here trying to help you are confused about what u want, I suspect they are offering info as close as to your needs that they are aware of.

recycle98, you may want to try Focus on the Family, www.family.org. They do have a parenting forum, http://www.fotfforums.org/fusetalk/forum/index.cfm?forumid=10

recycle, if there isn’t a forum like what you’re looking for—why not start one? Do some reading on child development at the library, post what you find out, offer up space for comments, let a few other parents of bright 10 year olds know where the site is, and if they find it helpful, they’ll tell a few friends, ad infinitum.

I suspect the reason you haven’t found much specifically tailored to your needs is that “parents of advanced 10 year olds” is a narrow and transitory market, so no one’s bothered to develop a website specifically for that yet. But the library probably will have parenting books tailored specifically to the different ages and kids at different parts of the ability spectrum. I distinctly remember checking out a book called “The Nine Year Old” when D. was 9–and her fears that I would know too much about her!

A word about Focus on the Family is that it’s a stronghold of the religious right, so any information is going to be colored by that perspective. If that’s what you want, great, but if not, you might want to keep looking.
