Foster Walker Complex

Hey guys,

I have just been assigned to Foster Walker for next year, and I’m a little disappointed because I hear it’s not a very social dorm, so I was wondering if people having lived there could tell me what they think about it

Also, this may seem like a dumb question, but the only thing that I think sounds cool about the Plex are the brick walls in the rooms. Can anyone tell me whether they are in all the rooms, or only the ones on the outer edge?
Mine is room 3114, so it’s on the inner edge, as you can see on the floor plan : [Foster-Walker Floor Plan](http://www.docstoc.com/docs/29554481/Foster-Walker-Floor-Plan#)

Thanks for your responses!

My son is living in the Plex for a week during band camp. I’m sorry I didn’t notice about the brick walls. He is in House 4, second floor, in a single (and his floor had a LOT of singles), with a single bathroom incl. shower stall in the hallway right outside his room. Not sure how bathrooms would normally be “assigned.” Everything seemed to be in good condition. Strangely, the shower stall is tucked to one side of the bathroom and does not have its own light so you need to shower in fairly dim light!

The hallways/stairwells/exits are a bit dizzying to visitors, but I’m sure residents get the hang of it. The number of exits is a plus. Most are locked/alarmed after 8 p.m., though, so you then have to find your way back to the common areas. I can see where, because of the way the houses are spread out, social activity could be a little more “diffuse,” but I think with some exploring you will find the floors/lounges where the most is “happening.”

Plex has the largest of the residence foodservices, we hear, and is supposed to be pretty good.

Plex is somewhat isolated. Its more upperclassmen than not, because its full of singles. The dining halls are definitely a plus, but overall its not a terrific dorm to be in as a freshman.

No matter, just means you have better reasons to go out and be social. Plus, you’ll be one of the only freshmen you know with a single, which can have its perks…
