sunnyflorida, we have seen the same thing, but allow me to present a plausable conversation with a 14 year old:
Mom, prior to pool party, “don’t forget to take a towel”
kid, “sigh, roll eyes”

Dripping kid comes to car after pool party:
Mom: “Where is your towel?”
Kid: “I don’t know”
Mom: “Go find it. NOW!”

Kid “finds” a towel…but since it’s wrapped around wet kid, Mom doesn’t notice it’s not one of theirs. Weeks later strange beach towel shows up in wash. Mom asks “Who’s towel is this?” Kids shrug…“Somebody must have left it here…”

They aren’t lying, just not paying attention.

SF- I write our last name on them all in big sharpie marker, too, so no excuses that the borrowers cannot figure out how to return them!

I have never been invited into the home of a certain friend. Last fall she and her H couldn’t find their artificial Xmas tree. They found it a couple of weeks ago. In their family room!

now, THAT is scary, silvermom…

I received a nice envelope from the Harbor Police lost and found this past week. It was my driver’s license–that expired in 1999! It looked practically new–so the lost and found must have had it for more than this past decade! I can’t imagine why they suddenly decided to send it to me. I’ve been living at the same address for 20 years.

There are some great threads running in the Parent’s Cafe this week…we are rolling in the floor laughing. Too funny. The “missing” artificial Christmas tree…silvermom, invite yourself over, please!

Somewhere are 4 sweatshirts ,one pair of sweatpants and a jacket that D somehow misplaced within a few months of each other. I am convinced that there might be a big hole that they have fallen into ( kind of like the Bermuda Triangle for teen clothing). If anyone knows the whereabouts, let me know.

The teen clothing is probably in the same place as the missing socks taken by the dryer gods.

Lost and never found: one set of king-sized white 100% cotton sheets with matching pillow cases. Put away for the winter when the flannels came out, and never seen again. How can this happen in a two bedroom apartment where all of the linens are (supposedly) stored in one closet?

Lost but found: cute silver pumps. I stashed these on top of a book-case to keep them out of happykid’s toddler reach and found them entirely by accident two years later. Says a lot about my willingness to dust, doesn’t it!
