Foundation Fellowship - class of 2024

my daughter was also not selected but since she was not even an auto-admit to Honors, I really did not expect that to happen. She is still hoping to get into Honors with an application and for a bit more merit.

@UpstateSCmom, our children seem to be in exactly the same boat! I happened to run into my daughter’s guidance counselor at an unrelated meeting at school today. We are GA residents, so our high school generally has a LOT of students applying to UGA. The guidance counselor said that both for general admissions and honors college admissions UGA so far has been WAY more competitive than even last year. She has some students who received admissions into much higher ranked universities in general - some with scholarships from those other universities, who did not get into UGA at all and some others who also were not selected for auto-admit into honors with stats that would have easily gotten them in last school year. Also, she said that despite UGA saying they are judging “more holistically” this year, so far the decisions seems to be falling along similar lines from our specific high school of them still really placing a fairly heavy emphasis on GPA, rigor, and SAT/ACT - so far no students seem to have been admitted that she knows of with slightly lower stats and good E.C.'s, like you might see at a private university.

Hoping both of our students make it in with the honors program application. Mine only applied to UGA EA and the rest of her applications were RD, so this has been a hard, long wait compared to our older daughter who knew where she was attending college by December. Also SOOO many applications just for the one university as we also felt it couldn’t hurt to apply to Foundation Fellowship - although we realized with her missing auto admit into Honors, it was likely a huge long-shot. Hopefully, the honors application to UGA is going to be completed by this weekend. Mine is struggling to understand if she needs to reword all of her descriptions of her extracurricular activities on this application compared to the Foundation Fellowship one. What did your child do? Thanks and good luck!

Thank you for all the helpful info! And YES, they seem to be exactly in the same boat.
My daughter has not done her Honors application at all. She had a lot going with finals recently (our spring semester just stated today). She is hopefully working a lot on it this weekend.
I wish your daughter the very best and hope both of our kids will succeed…
