Four-Star Leadership and WDI

Has anyone attended either Four Star Leadership with General Tommy Franks or the Women’s Debate Institute? My parents aren’t willing to pay for summer programs, and I’m almost definitely going to be captain of LD debate next year, which I am not prepared for. I feel like I owe it to the debaters I will be leading to fulfill my role well, and these are the only two camps I could find that are directly relating to debate and public speaking. The Four-Star Leadership one isn’t a debate camp, but it focuses on public speaking.

I’m currently a sophomore. My debate coach last year had to step out because his wife had a baby, and I couldn’t attend the regional and state tournament or Nationals in debate because of external reasons. This year our speech coach has no other coaches or volunteers to help her, so we are unable to travel to tournaments. The only debate tournaments we can do is at the regional and state level ones coming up in a month. Our debate captain is far too lenient and none of us have really done work because we have busy schedules and don’t have the time to do what we don’t have to do, or in the case of the only other veteran (also a sophomore) sheer laziness.

Given my circumstances, do you think I have a good chance of getting into either of these programs? Do you know what the average acceptance rate is?

All help appreciated.
