Fox News #1 rated news program for 77th consec month

Read it and weep all ye bashers of the Fox “fair and balanced” methodology. ;)

*For the 77th consecutive month, FNC finished first in total day and prime time ratings during May. FNC was the sixth highest rated cable network on all of basic cable during prime time for the month (CNN and MSNBC finished 19th and 26th) and the seventh rated network in total day (CNN and MSNBC were 19th and 27th).

FNC also had 11 out of the top 13 programs in cable during the month in Total Viewers. The O’Reilly Factor was the #1 program in cable news for the 90th consecutive month, and saw gains in Total Viewers year-to-year (26%).

Amercia’s Newsroom (9-11amET) was up 30% year-to-year, with the program averaging more viewers than CNN and MSNBC combined during the time period.

Meanwhile, On the Record with Greta Van Susteren has been #1 for 73 consecutive months in Total Viewers while Hannity & Colmes has been #1 in its timeslot for 54 consecutive months.*

Never seen much news at Faux Gnus, but I am gratified that the owner will be taking some of the profits to support our common alma mater (Worcester College, Oxford) and will use some of the rest to support Obama.

In my experience only “people who read” say that.
Why should we believe someone who has everything to gain by lying?
Maybe we should see what “people who don’t read” think about that…Smart guy!

P2n, Wow, way to ruin my appetite just before dinner.

Boosted by American Idol/Family Guy…

Fox News is the worst news I’ve ever watched in my entire life…

It makes me laugh it’s so bad.

…Well, I’m exaggerating, for everything except politics I actually don’t mind it. But the moment they start talking politics they just jump down your throat until you agree with them…

On the other hand, NBC/MSNBC are just as bad but with a liberal spin…

Tyler I don’t see what’s so bad about the straight-up news on both Fox/NBC. The news briefs and top stories are usually almost identical and pretty cut-and-dried. Now the opinion is another thing.

I think Greta does a good service for families of missing people.

Well, settle down, kids. What P2N has just slightly “spun” is the news that of cable news shows, when we look through our microscope to see the number of people watching, the shows on FNC - that is, the Fox cable news network, hey, They’re Number One! Of course, they’re not in the same league as Hanna Montana, or Spongebob Squarepants, or “professional wrestling” - let alone any broadcast news or other network shows. The O’Reilly factor is Fox News #1 program, and it draws about 1/4 the audience of ABC or NBC Evening News. Even Katie Couric kick’s O’Reiley’s ass.

But they kick the %^%^&$^ out of “Ion TV”!

The only “liberal” on the MSNBC network is Olberman, and he’s fantastic at what he does. The rest are moderates.

With the Bush presidency having such a horrible approval rating, I find it really surprising that the Bush/republican PR agency (Fox news) isn’t helping them out.

Come on, Fox news has Karl Rove on their program!!! KARL ROVE. All the time!!! A man who on all accounts should be in jail…and they bask in his presence!

On a side note: Ack! Am I the only one seeing fox news advertisements on this website?

smart people dont watch fox.

Tyler09, your lack of understanding of basic television appalls me. You obviously cannot comprehend the division between Fox and FoxNews. Next you will suggest that FX is also on the same channel. Second, your liberal incompetency (i apologize for the redundancy) falls like a veil upon your misguided eyes. William Randolf O’Reilly (if you fail to recognize the historical reference, you prove my point) knows all and sees all. He is all that goes bump in the night. You should sit down and grow a pair of American flags.

haha. that was fun. everyone needs a good, unprovoked rant everyone once in a while.

waits for liberal to chime in (I am more left than right, but I’m not up for a long post and the one before mine deserves a good retort. I can’t wait.)

Chris Matthews is a moderate! Are you bagging me here…the guy who basically drools over Obama is a moderate. The man who worked for Dems is a moderate? The man who stated he would love to run for a political office as a Dem is a moderate?

My wonderful husband (Bullet) taught me something to not be ignorant you must hear both sides. I flip channels among the cable news and watch them all. I listen to Air America and American Right on XM, when you listen and hear both sides, the decision you make is informed. By shutting your mind off to something because of preconceived prejudices is arrogance and ignorance.

Actually, I think you’re better off not subjecting yourself to disinformation on a regular basis. Hearing spin from the left then spin from the right just leaves you spinning.

Of course I listen to both sides, but that doesn’t change the fact that most of the democrats, and Obama, and Chris Matthews are indeed moderates. The Republican party has just skewed so far from the their previous values (fiscal responsibility, small government, upholding the constitution) that it makes the democrats appear to be liberal. The republican party of today is based on social conservatism and christian “values.”

The media, for the most part, is indeed moderate, and a large part of it republican slanted. IF it wasn’t, every story involving politics would be devoted to exposing the lies, hypocrisy, and crimes of the Bush administration. Instead, the media is largely responsible for influencing the public in perceiving

Nearly every single word that comes out of the Bush administration is a complete lie, and the fact that Fox news panders to this administration and glosses over all their crimes proves that it’s not a news organization at all.

There’s a big difference between looking at both sides when they provide a rational, albeit biased argument based on facts. But when one side blatantly lies, and bases their “reporting” not on a rational even if biased interpretation of the facts, but on finely crafted rhetorical arguments designed to brainwash, it’s dangerous to let yourself take them seriously.

I look forward to a left news and political show, but I haven’t been able to find any among my 65 channels. The most moderate I can find supports a candidate who favors a giant trillion dollar give away to private health insurance companies who created the current health care mess to begin with.

Who, by the way, is Glenn Beck, and why do I have a feeling that he flunked remedial reading?

I don’t think Stewart or Colbert are liberal. Criticizing Bush and pointing out his (criminal) incompetence doesn’t make someone liberal.

Fox News? Come on, folks - it’s not good to watch cartoons in the morning.

As P.T. Barnum said . . . You’ll never go broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public. Rupert Murdoch has learned that lesson well.

FNC is actually pretty good. They are right-leaning, but its ok. They have plenty of liberals on the various programs who present a diversity of opinion.

Obviously, many folks (and experts) agree they are # 1.

:)

1 in the minor league, P2N. The question is, is FNC even playing at the triple-A level? And if so, are they ready to be called up to “the show?” All I see is a pull hitter who can’t handle major league pitching.
