Sooo I really need Math 1A for my intended major but I have 2 choices. I am currently enrolled in 1B with Bourgoin. I can either:
get wait listed for Smith (I would be #7)
sign up for Flor Feldman
What should I do? Has anyone had any classes with Feldman?
You mention being an integrative biology major. That major requires Math 10A and 10B, according to http://ib.berkeley.edu/undergrad/major/freshman.php . It says that you should ask an advisor in the department about alternate math sequences starting with 1A or 1B. Based on the description of 10A and 10B, taking 1B, 54, and a statistics course would likely cover the various topics in 10A and 10B, so you may want to ask the integrative biology department if that selection would be accepted. Or you can wait a year and take 10A next fall, followed by 10B the following spring (in which case, you would want to replace 1B with some other course offered in FPF). However, the math sequence must be completed before declaring the major, according to http://ib.berkeley.edu/undergrad/major/declaring.php .
You can try the old exams for 1A to see if you are ready to start in 1B: https://math.berkeley.edu/courses/archives/exams .
